10 tips to help children maintain a healthy weight

  • Avoid sweets, crisps and all fizzy drinks
  • Choose snacks lower in added fats and sugars
  • Get more active as a family, walking more, playing outside games
  • Reduce time spent in slouchy activities such as TV or computer games
  • Help young children to get enough sleep – set a sensible bedtime and stick with it

  • Structure main meals for children; this helps them eat well and snack less
